Aberham was just minding his own business.

As an adventurer in full armor, getting robbed was never really an issue. Sure, if you were a nerdy mage or a ranger who forgot his bow the next town over then there was defanantly some danger of getting robbed. But if you were experenced, and had as many kills and ballsy story's behind your name than the average story book character then you could definitely handle yourself. No one, short of the lord of darkness or the princess of Highrule, was as poor as a target for a robbery than Aberham Barric. Just from the outside you could see that his armor was crafted by VERY skilled hands, if you were near enough you could see another wave of defense in the form of dragon scale under armor, and if you were really drunk or had the perceptions of a deaf bat you could still hear him clinking around in his armor. The sound of the armor shifting around and the slow steps that it forced him to take intimidated most people away from talking to him and the distinct lack of any rupees jingling from a nonexistent bag on his hip meaned that he was not rich enough to make it worth it.

He had been staying in this town for one day, starting around noon. It had been to hot for him to go around looking for work, and this was coming from a guy who had spent large amounts of his time doing work in the many desserts of the world. It was just unbearable with this heat wave. He took his horse to the nearest town and got a pleasantly cold bath in the inn house. The entire place was to small for a respectable establishment to be set up. So he was forced to share it with any Tom, Dick and harry that also wanted a room for the night. It was bad enough that his room was small, smelly, and poorly cleaned. But the rats that he would stomp and beat off with a stick seemed to have an unlimited supply. He filled three stinking sacks full of dirty dead rat corpses until he got tired of throwing the damn things out, he took his bags to the front desk and threw them into the face of an unpaid female intern. She did not deserve the nightmares of rats nibbling on her toes or even the horror of checking inside the few bags to find a few dozen rat body's that were flatter than if a horse had stomped on them.

It was hot inside the inn it was hot outside of the inn. For all the people wearing thin tunic's and short shorts it was a manageable heat wave. But poor Aberham did not have any clothes besides undergarments and heavy armor. When he took off the dragon scales the heat was alleviated somewhat but his black armor made him think he was about to pass out. He tried everything to cool down, he took a dip in a nearby stream, it was as hot as his own sweat. He climbed up on the roof of the inn, but there was not a cloud in the entire sky. He even dug deep into his coin purse and asked for another bath, but the inn's intern seemed upset at him (for some reason) and inflated the price, multiplying it by a factor of ten. Now, it was not that Aberham could not pay for ten baths, but he stood on principal and refused to buy another bath. Which was unfortunate because the well in the back seemed to be the only cold water in the entire town. They had a monopoly on cold water, he had been ripped off the first time he had wanted a bath but to see poor decent travelers be almost robbed pissed him off.

Needless to say, this place was much worse than his dirt farm had ever been, at least his room had a window that he could crack open when it got hot! His room was stuffy, small and hot. To take his mind off of the heat wave he challenged some of the other people sharing this hot house to play cards with him. Playing cards back then  was not easy. If you had a deck you either made them yourself or bought them for a high price from a deck maker. Without a printing press they were all made by hand. Very few people even knew how to play, but eventually he was able to find three people who had played cards before and wanted a distraction as well. He set up their table right next to a window and dealt the cards. Now Aberham was no master gambler, but wearing a helmet that did not allow people to see your expression at all gave him a clear advantage. They played over a ridiculously small amount of money, loosers could recoup their losses by going out and cutting down some tall grass or searching through some bushes. Still, he was having a good time and though the ale had been watered down you got what you paid for and he was able to order quite a few without getting drunk. A few people started watching them play and take turns stepping in when someone wanted to go piss or ran out of pocket change to play. Aberham managed to stay in the game longer than anyone as the dealer and he played fairly well.

It finally started to cool down at night so Aberham went to his room to go put on his under armor again. He never realized how uncomfortable that armor was without the under armor to supplement it. When he got back he brought his pouch full of green rupees and saw that the table had been taken over by a bunch of teenagers who did not know how to play. He had left his cards out for the others sake but his chair had been taken while he was gone. He pulled up another wooden chair and put his money in a small pile on the table. A greedy ass kid asked him. "Hey, old man. Give me some money so I can play." Aberham did not even respond to him with words. He just shook his head. "Hey what are you deaf or something?" Aberham did not respond. The kid reached over to his rupee pile to take a handful. Aberham brought his fist crashing down onto his hand he felt a bone crack as the kid cried out. "GAHH! What the hell! You want to take this outside old man!?" Aberham stood up and looked all his stupid freinds in the eye. "I'm in my twenty's, lets go." He took the kid by his unbroken hand outside leaving about thirty rupees behind, the kids friends followed suit.

Once he was outside he threw the kid on his ass, to which he responded by drawing his knife and standing up. "Oh you messed with the wrong gu- AHHHH!!!" The kid had been pointing the knife at Aberham and it was in his personal space. So he drew his sword and in one fluid motion cut his entire hand off. His friends panicked and drew their own knives, oh great. He was in a gang. One of them ran right at him to which Aberham responded by cutting him almost in half by the waste. The other one panicked after seeing this and got stabbed through the throat. Another jumped on his back and tried to stab him only to find his knife bend on contact with his armor. Aberham grabbed him by his legs, jumped up and crushed his spine. It broke and the kid spent his last few moments twitching on the ground. The final kid panicked, dropped his weapon and ran away. Aberham used his ax spell to throw a mighty ax in his back. It cleaved him open and he died immediately. He walked over to the kid who was missing a hand, the last words he heard before Aberham stomped his skull in were as such:

"I don't play."
