Ranks are broken down into three different ranks: Amateur, Experienced and Master rank. These ranks are separated by three sub levels within each rank - these sub levels are called 'tiers', which will separate the power of individual characters within the same rank as opposed to different ranks.

'Tiers' effect a handful of things within the RPG - two characters with the same rank that do combat can, to a certain extent, be measured as to who is 'better.' A character that is Amateur tier 2 that fights a character that is Amateur tier 1 would have a slight edge against their opponent; they would be just a little bit faster, stronger and more resilient. When it comes to a tier 3 against a tier 1, the tier 3 character will have a little more than just a 'slight' edge against their opponent, as they are almost in an entirely different rank from them.

Fighting always comes down to the skill of the individual players, of course, but for the more detailed and 'exact' issues, tiers help figure out who is actually stronger within the same rank. Before reaching 225 EXP, you are considered 'tierless', or 'tier 0'. Once you rank up from Amateur to Experienced and Experienced to Master, you will also initially become tier 0 within that rank until you have reached the appropriate EXP requirement.

This might be your first time picking up a weapon - it really doesn't matter what weapon you choose, as long as you choose one... or could take up studying magic and becoming a caster! Either way, you are new to this life Before this, you were nothing but a normal citizen, or you have had very minimal training in the art of war. Your skills are still very unrefined and its pretty easy to tell that your real time combat experience is almost non-existent. You are at the point where your training means everything right now - the more combat you participate in, the better you will become until you are strong enough to become a distinct warrior in your kingdom. Amateur ranked missions grant you 75 EXP each.

You are no longer a 'nobody'. People know your name and your power, and if they don't,  you're about to show them. You've taken out time from your life to learn the ways of combat and to hone your skills to a certain level where you aren't just some mundane soldier anymore, you are a valued part of your faction and your skills are something that people might even pay to see. Due to your efforts you may have landed yourself a pretty favorable job in an Hylian guard, or even under Ganondorf - who knows? Your combat experience is something that others would and have died for. You are no amateur, and you can keep up with the best of 'em! If you furthered your training anymore, you may become the 'stuff of legends.' Experienced ranked missions grant you 150 EXP each.

You are a LEGEND. you've climbed your way out of the muck and polished yourself off into something incredible and powerful. There are very few in the world that could even match your skills and when the day comes where you match your skills against someone of the same skill level, it is likely to turn into a complete war-zone. You have spent so much time doing important things and training yourself, that you very well may be THE Hero or a new found villain. At this point, you are so powerful that decisions that you make on a personal level could very easily influence a vast amount of people within the world. You could easily decide to destroy the world or save it though...only you can choose! Master ranked missions grant you 300 EXP each.

Once you have reached the appropriate amount of experience to to become tier three of your most current rank, you then become eligible for a rank up. At this point you could go about ranking up in one of two ways, depending on what you wish to do and what you feel comfortable doing. The first way you could go about ranking up is to simply rank up immediately. Since you would have 750 EXP, you would be able to become Experienced tier 0 instantly at 750 EXP. If you chose to do this, then you do and cannot do the rank up exam.

The other method of leveling up is to request for a rank up exam. Once you have reached tier 3 in Amateur, you can request an exam, which will have to be proctored to you by a staff member using an NPC, or someone who is already an Experienced rank character. When taking an exam, it is possible to fail,  and what shall happen next is up to the proctor. The perks of taking an exam upon completion with a passing grade is that you will not only become Experienced rank, but you will also receive 600 EXP as a reward for completing the exam, thus jumping you to Experienced tier 1 rank instead of tier 0.

NOTE: There are currently three attributes that you can boost by tiers via temporary spells or passive enchantments with armors. These three are strength, Speed and Accuracy. You can't have more than three tier boosters per attribute affecting you at the same time. If you have a blessing that boosts an attribute by one tier, you can only have two more stat boosts for that attribute up at once, and if you have a blessing that boosts an attribute by one rank, you can't have any extra boosts for that attribute.
