It had been awhile since he had taken another "usual" job in Hyrule. Aberham figured he may as well return. He was sick of sand in his crotch anyway. He had spent just enough time after his last payday to have his entire suit cleaned and to hose some of the blood off of his sword from his other contracts. Fortunately for him, this contract was not illegal, and he had not left behind enough survivors in his prior contracts for a reasonable alarm to be raised.

He met the farmer in his home, it reminded him of his own. It smelled, was full of kids, and he saw at least three dogs walking around. The farmer was not one to hire much hired help outside of his ranch hands. He treated it as just another temp job he was hiring for, if a discrete one. He walked in through a door that had been recently repaired, and after asking around was able to find him working around some horses. He explained that they usually came around a hill near to the farm at night. They had been growing bold, these were much more dangerous pests because they had no taste for sheep or chickens. They waited until people went about and attacked them. He made his sign a contract in blood and sign it himself. He took it into a little black box and locked it away there.

Then he climbed on top of the roof of the barn and waited until nightfall. He had no problem doing so as most of his work so far had taken place at night. It got very chilly up on the wooden roof, but it was necessary to spot them. He ate his meager provisions of bread and cheese, and watched the day go by. Ranch hands worked cattle, young girls rode horses when they were done with their chores. Little boys fought, oh boy did they fight. He lost himself in memory's of his childhood to make the hours fly by. It made him miss home so much, he wondered what his parents where doing right now.

Eventually around midnight he saw the skeletons armed with swords shuffling around. He slid off of his perch and landed on the ground. He drew his sword and approached. The moon was out almost fully tonight, so his night vision would not help him. He was not even sure if Stalfos needed to see. Or if they used their malice alone to detect prey. It wasn't like they had eyes. He was spotted fairly soon, the Stalfos, with age old weapons and shoulder armor. Approached him in the dark. Their skulls giving off skeleton smiles.

Aberham was not afraid, he had killed more skeletons than this in his career. He stepped forward. And the Stalfos readied their weapons. Two with shields where up first. He took an immediate and aggressive path. He slammed his sword into the closest ones shield. He goaded it into attacking him, and it was happy to comply. It swung his sword and Aberham aggressively knocked it to the side with his sheild. Before ramming his sword into his neck and causing it to fall over in a pile of bones. The other guarded with his sheild, Aberham knew what do do. He swept the leg of the skeleton, spun around while it was falling, and punted the skill clean off of its body.

The next two were armed with swords only, but they were far larger and cumbersome. So heavy that they almost dragged the hooked blades on the ground. He swung his sword only to hear the metallic clang of a parried attack. He saw an angry sword coming at his head so he blocked with his shield. The other one swung its weapon as well and achieved similar results. However this one overextended it self. Aberham broke his guard and sliced clean through his neck bone. Causing the head to go rolling down the hill. His partner renewed his assault with a flurry of attacks, Aberhams shield was just about to give out when he instead blocked with his sword. This made him enter a blade clash with the monster. It was the skeletons entire body against his one arm. He did not have a very good angle on him and he felt that he would loose.

He heard something clacking behind him and he saw that one of the Stalfos that he had vanquished was getting back up! Out of a mixture of desperation and hatred for monsters he found the strength to overpower the skeleton in front of him. He spinned around and sliced him right down the middle causing his bones to fall in a pile. The Stalfos that had gotten up did not take kindly to the man who had just killed it and he swung his sword aiming at his head. Aberham blocked the attack with his shield, barley.

Was it just him or did killing he monster actually make it stronger? He swung his sword only to have it parried, his attack was returned tenfold by the Stalfos. While a he braced himself against this onslaught from an enemy that could not get tired. He tripped over a reanimating pile of bones and fell to the ground. He looked up to see the Stalfos that he had just killed was alive and well. It slammed his sword into his shield and he scooted away before standing up.

He readied his weapon aggression called for aggression! He matches every single slash from the sword bearing skeleton before he eventually had to kick it way for breathing room. The other swung his sword as hard as it could and the sound of metal on metal rang out through the entire barn. A few kids had woken up, and were watching the fight from the same roof he had been using to spot him. He heard all sorts of cheer. "Get em!" "Don't stop!" "You got this looser!" Aberhams face grimaced where no one could see on the outside but it the back of his mind he liked having someone to fight for. The skeleton swung his sword another time and Aberham blocked with his sword much harder. Sparks lighted up the night and he hear a cheer from the kids. He had a much better angle this time around and was able to use his armors strength enchantments to their full ability. He pushed the Stalfos down onto the ground until its legs gave out and it collapsed.

He saw the other one coming in for another attack and punted the skull from the recently deceased one directly into his own. This disorientated the monster, allowing Aberham to get a major strike in on him. He cut his shield arm clean off. The skeleton tried to defend as best as he could with a meager hook blade to defend him. Aberham dispatched him with maximum aggressiveness. "Yahh!" He yelled as he delivered three chops passed the Stalfos's guard. This finished the creature for the last time. When he looked to his fan base he saw that most of them had shut up, and the younger ones looked terrified. He had shown them what true battle was like.

Desperate, panicky, and not in the least bit glorious.
