Konungr Navigated himself effortlessly through the mystical woods. Bare feet carried the cloaked sentinel forward; a six foot empty gourd hanging over his shoulder. He approached a tree and examined the massive trunk before running his fingers through the bark. When traversing through these lost woods, one cannot trust their senses—no matter how keen or advance they may be. This forest was living and sought protection from the goddesses of yore. There was a reason why evil could never truly grip this magical place as a whole.

The Goron's ears twitched as he caught the sounds of faint whispers within the brushes; no doubt from the local Kokiri that dubbed this mystical place home. Konungr paid the whispers no mind as he continued onward towards his destination.

The howl of a nightmarish were-beast caused the whispers to cease and for Konungr himself to look from side to side. The howl wasn't one of intimidation, or to claim a freshly obtained kill. The howl was one of wary—warning the other beasts that roam of the foreign predator that lurked the very grass in search of something. The Goron adjusted his cloak as he continued to march onward,

he was almost there.

Saria watched her group of Kokiri as they practiced their spells. They were coming a long way since she had begun training them. While none of them had truly mastered a spell of their own creation yet, they were still far beyond simply focusing their energy, and looking for inspiration.

One boy closed his eyes as a blue shield formed around him...Before it shattered in an instant. The disgruntled Kokiri kicked the ground in agitation, as his fairy laughed a little. She walked over to him, placing a hand over his shoulder. "Don't strain too hard. Its not about how much you can focus, but finding the perfect balance to keep your spell active, and effective." she advised with an encouraging smile, as the boy gave an excited nod, trying again for slightly improved results.

"Ms. Saria!" exclaimed a Kokiri girl running forward from one of the hollow tree trunks in the clearing, nearly tripping over her own feet in the process. Behind her were a few others, their nervousness evident. "Yes, Wynn?" the Forest Sage asked patiently, as she panted from exhaustion. "There...There's a strange man in the woods! We caught sight of him where we were training at! We hid before he could see us, but.." the girl explained in between breaths.

At this, Saria gave a nod. "Rest, Wynn. I'll take care of this." she looked into the forest proper, seemingly to no one before asking "Can anyone guide me to the stranger?" she asked, before a winged floating ball of light flew to her. The light concealed it from truly being seen, but an orange outline was evident "I can...He's not too far away!" it claimed before flying off, the green-haired girl following behind.

"Be careful, Saria...We don't know anything about this guy..." a similar green ball of light warned, flying from her place in Saria's pocket. "I am well aware, Gate." Saria nodded. "I only wish to see if he is friend or foe. After all...We can't have him going near the village should he be dangerous."

"Here we are..." the orange fairy claimed as they entered a heavily foggy part of the forest...One of the more dangerous parts. She gave a nod, whispering a thanks, the fairy flying off, before silently climbing a tree, and making her way between them before getting a good look at the man.

He was tall and intimidating, that was for sure. His eyes burned with a fire within. He didn't seem like a normal human, and yet different...More like a Goron, although different...She hadn't seen one in years. Perhaps something had changed? He certainly seemed out of place here in the Lost Woods, but...Something about him seemed trustworthy. For centuries she had depended on her sense of judgement upon the spirits of those who became lost within the woods. This man...She felt she could trust him.

"Hey." she called down from her spot, letting him know of her presence, as she sat on a sturdy tree branch, her legs dangling down as she looked to him with curiosity. "You look like you have lost your way. Are you lost?"

The ever-changing forest guided the patriarch thru the depths subtly—the path literately being pointed out for him to follow. Caution steps lead the titan to a clearing with a miniature river within view. As he strolled forward, his ears flinched as the soft words of a Kokiri broke his harden concentration. Konungr walked in the domain of the Kokiri, technically he was an intruder despite both the Goron and Kokiri residing so close together. So ignoring the words spoken to him would be disrespectful and less than ideal for the given situation at hand.

"I am not lost,"

the stoic beast kept his retort simple and quick as he made his way over to the spring—dipping the massive gourd within its magical depths. "I'm here to collect some of your woods water. I mean you no harm, Kokiri." Konungr spoke once again—the rope of the gourd tide around his hand. Konungr sat on his bottom, Indian style and simply waited for the six foot gourd to fill.

The lightning-bugs took a liking to the leader; the glowing insects wouldn't stop flying around him.

Saria cupped her face in her hands as she lent down, watching the man fill the gourd, observing his actions, Gate floating around her as she did. She swung her legs a bit before then saying "Oh I can sense you mean no wrong, sir..." she claimed, before jumping down from the tree, walking a bit closer "But I must say you must have come a long way to end up here...May I ask why you needed Forest Water in particular?" she asked, as she sat down next to him, pulling out an empty glass bottle, and began to fill it up with the stream's water herself.

She looked to him with a small smile, despite the fact that he didn't seem to want to talk. "Its just we hardly ever get visitors around here...For very good reason..." she looked down in thought, as she pulled the bottle out from the stream, putting the cork back on, and looking to him expectantly for an answer. She wanted to ask more, but she also didn't want to come off as too annoying to the giant of a man. She knew she was already treading thin water in just asking the man such questions. He clearly didn't seem the type to want to be bothered...But she knew she had to, or else the man may befall a terrible fate.

As the sunken gourd began gulping up the water, Konungr simply minded his own. The natives words made him open an single eye and watch as she moved over in his direction. Truth be told, Konungr himself was in excruciating physical pain; his body housing many bruises and gashes from incidents he rather not share with the Kokiri before him. But his cloak hid the battle wounds and his harden mindset gave no indication that he was in any real pain despite the truth behind the matter. So, as the girl took a seat beside him, Konungr's amber eye remained locked on the gulping gourd.

"I require it for a concoction."

Again—he kept it simply, sweet, and clean. Without this water, Konungr's elite guard wouldn't be in the proper condition to continue fending off the forces of darkness that threatened to swallow the Goron village whole. When the Kokiri went on to mention how they didn't get many visitors, Konungr understood the statement fully. Many infamous tales are linked directly to this wood of complete mystery. The legend of  the playful and satanic skull children, the tale of the wandering skeletal warriors known as Stelfos, and many many more. But this titan was nothing to be trifled with—for he was the one these nightmarish creatures have nightmares about.

"My visit is only temporary, I assure you."

"A...Concoction?" she asked, now deep in thought at the man's words. Closing her eyes, she felt the forest's energies around them, the forest's fireflies and faeries beginning to flock to her as well. "The forest's waters are known for their curative abilities...But if I am not mistaken...I don't believe that's very common knowledge outside of the forest...is it?" her curiosity was genuinely getting the better of her.

"Saria...I think we're bothering this guy too much...He clearly knows his way out...He doesn't need our help." her fairy whispered to her, clearly nervous. It wasn't too often Gate tried to be a voice of reason...But while Saria knew what she said was true...She felt she needed to stay a bit longer...As if she needed to help this man in some way...Even though he didn't seem to wish it.

"I'm sorry for all the questions, sir...Gate's right...I know I've been asking too much...Its just I haven't left the forest in so long...From what I've heard from Mr. Axel and Mr. Chase, Hyrule has changed greatly..." she opened her eyes, looking to him concerned. "I can tell despite the changes since all that time ago...You're a Goron...Tell me...Are the Goron People still alright?" she asked, no humor evident in her voice now.

"Those that know the ways of old, obtain knowledge otherwise inaccessible."

In other words, Konungr knew many secrets this Hylian ruled realm had to offer. He didn't know them all, but he know all the important ones that helped his people strive in flourish. The whispers of the illuminating fairy accompanying the Kokiri caused Konungr to eye the little lady beside him; harden eyes finally taking in the features of the child-like female.

As she spoke, the gargantuan Goron found himself averting his gaze due to the sudden jolt of pain traveling up his spin—fabric-cotton from the cloak he sported touching the deep gash traveling down his back. "Those names mean nothing to me." He retorted before continuing. "Keep your amends, Kokiri. I'm an outsider traversing through your domain. You are entitled to as many questions as you deem necessary. "

He'd bestow those exotic iris' back upon her as she spoke of the Goron. Was it that obvious? Sure he stood taller than two-meters, but he looked the par human wise, right? Tch, whatever; water under the bridge at this point.

"My people are fine."

Bold face lie—but she'd have no way in knowing when dealing with someone as stoic as Konungr. He tugged on the rope and felt the weight of the sunken gourd; it was almost time to depart from these woods and return home.

The girl watched the giant intently as he spoke, taking in his words, what precious few he said. So he WAS familiar with the ways of the past...She had to wonder what exactly he knew...However, what he said next...

She had to laugh a little as he told her that she had the right to ask as many questions as she wanted. "Perhaps you are an outsider...And this is in fact my home...But I like to think of you more as a guest. And what kind of hostess would I be if i didn't respect your wishes?" she questioned, trying to lighten the mood, despite the situation...

However, as she asked about the Goron...She noticed his gaze shift slightly. That was all the answer she needed as to whether this man truly was a Goron. His answer though...Something seemed off...He said that they were doing fine...But there had to be a reason for seeking out the Forest Water...

She wanted to immediately question him about that...But she needed to play this better than that...She decided to humor him for now...Even though she was running out of time.

"That's good..." she looked down. Its just...I remember when I first met the Gorons centuries ago...Though they looked much different back then..." she put a hand to her chin. "I was only able to recognize you as one due to...Well...Your spirit...Its different from a Hylian..." she shook her head. "I can't quite explain it..." she turned to him again, her curiosity renewed, taking a chance to ask something she'd been wanting to know for centuries. "Do your people have stories of a Goron Chief named Darunia? He was a very dear friend..."

It was reassuring to know some people still maintained some amount of politeness even in the presence of something they might deem daunting. Goron's always got treated such ways; typically the first ones to blame when something gets destroyed or the sort. Oh, but a Goron is never in the public eye as long as they are keeping themselves busy and forging weapons for the Hylian army. It all made Konungr's blood boil hot, but it was just how this realm operated—the beautiful made everything go round and round.

His wishes? He only wished to obtain the water. If she wanted to speak so be it—though he isn't much of a talker if she hasn't figured out that much thus far. Konungr fixated those eyes of one thousand tales back upon the green-haired Kokiri and found himself wrapped up in her soft; almost unsure words.

She was old—ancient. The titanic Goron attempted to do the math in his head but the information so far seemed to be vague. But she was very old and probably knew a little about everything this realm had to offer. "My spirit?" He was bestowed a kiss from Nayru and received her unconditional love and blessing. The aura about him is "different" from most, fact. But so different for this Kokiri to know he was of Goron blood? No, there was something to her little observation, but Konungr was never the type to question something if it was harmless, and this was as harmless as one can get.

"Darunia..."

By far the greatest Leader in Hyrule. Nothing but stories of peace, prosperity, and love when he lead the Goron. There were incidents, but nothing the great brother Darunia couldn't handle with his unfathomable strength and unconditional love for his brethren. Darunia is the primary reason the Norse-Goron were accepted by the Hyrulean Goron, but that is a story for a different time. Not to mention Konungr has his ways of reaching out to the patriarch of the long forgotten past—but such information was and needed to remain classified.

"We have stories of Brother Darunia, yes. He was a proud Goron and model example for our young. He is the epitome of everything Goron."

As he spoke of Darunia, she couldn't help but grin, hearing of how the Goron Chief was viewed by the later generation. "That's good...Really good..." she sighed, standing up and giving a little stretch. "During his time, the Kokiri and Gorons were so much closer...As we were with Hyrule, the Zora, and even the Gerudo after Ganondorf's rule ended..." she trailed off, clearly getting lost in the memories of a time long gone by.

"But as time went on, we grew more distant to each other again..." she clasped her hands together, her cheerful demeanor beginning to fade, as she looked on into the Woods, no longer at her titan of a guest. "Part of me wonders if Hyrule was only truly united, however briefly it lasted, because of Ganondorf's take over...As once again, these forests and my people appear to be a mere whisper upon the breath of so very few..."

She only stood there for a moment still lost in her thoughts, before her fairy flew in front of her face. "Saria! You're doing it again! Snap out of it!", it was then that she rubbed her face for a moment, shaking her head turning back to the Goron again. "Sorry...I often get caught in that...I did not mean to bore you. Regardless, I am glad that his memory is still honored. He truly was a father...Or rather...brother, to his people."

Ah, the Momentary Age—at least that was the name given to the peaceful era by Konungr and the other Goron Elders. Once Ganondorf's evil reign of terror came to an end thanks to the lionhearted effort of the Hero of Time. The races that dubbed this realm home united as one and flourished as one entity; no hate; no discrimination; no violence. During this time Konungr's blood ancestors, the Norse-Goron roamed this realm in search of a new home. The peaceful age aided them in achieve their goal, but without that era of yore violence between the two races of Goron would have ensued.

"The enemy of my enemy is my ally."

Konungr retorted to her claims of Ganondorf being the reason behind the short lived unity. No matter which way one looked at it, opposing forces banded together to get through that age of darkness. Some succeeded while most failed, but those that did make it through obtained a sense of knowledge, acceptance, and gratitude they would have never gotten without trials and tribulations.

The Goron paid no mind  to the flutter fairy attempting to snap the Kokiri out of her little trance.

"No need to make amends. You did nothing wrong, Kokiri. Besides..." He paused and grimaced behind the dusty cloak covering his body and mouth. "Meaningful conversation tells you a lot about a man and his value as such." He blinked, "If our realm was to plummet into darkness once again. The Hero of Time will arise from the ashes and thwart the reign of darkness. But if he fails, our forefathers have already set the foundation for us to take charge and fight for our family and home. If the everlasting darkness comes, we shall be ready."

He averted his gaze,

"At least that's what I believe to be true."

She felt a pang of guilt as he spoke the phrase...The enemy of my enemy is my friend...She didn't want to believe those words...But deep within, she knew he was right. The Kokiri themselves had remained hidden from the rest of the world during that time...Mostly due to the Deku Tree's warnings for their safety. But after that time, they had become much more social with the other races of Hyrule. She had heard the tales from the Deku Tree of how the Gorons and Zoras hadn't gotten along well, how the Gerudo were all but exiled, and of how the Royal Family ruled it all. But she had seen none of that when she had finally began to leave the forest...Often giving concerts of her song to Darunia...

But as time passed, feelings of mistrust began to bloom again...And so the Kokiri returned to their lives of seclusion and ignorance of the world...Shameful...

And then he spoke of the hero...Link...She sighed at that thought. She desperately missed her brother...But knew it unlikely she would ever see him again...Not least of which because of the ravages of time. Even if another Hero Cycle were to begin, he wouldn't be the same Link...And she accepted that.

"I hope you're right...I want to believe that...I really and truly do...But part of me finds it hard to believe with all of the mistrust, as you mentioned..." she looked down at the river, or more specifically, the Goron's gourd. "It seems as though you have your forest water..." she pointed out, before turning to him. "I know you said you could find your way out yourself...But would you like some company regardless?" she asked a bit hopeful.

"Those that allow mistrust to shroud their better judgement have no place in the battle against the Everlasting Evil. If one can't accept the fact we're all in great peril, Hyrule truly has no future."

Konungr refused to allow his brethren to suffer at the hands of darkness. Truth be told, he cared very little for Hyrule as a whole. The Hylian and Goron may have a peace treaty, but if push came to desperate shove. He couldn't shake the feeling that the Hylian wouldn't hesitate throwing the Goron to the side if it meant preserving their own well-being. But, if it ever did come to that, he had countermeasures in wait, but he truly hoped the Hylian's had more character than they liked to display.

The herculean Goron eyed the silent gourd before slowly raising to his bandaged feet and reeling the massive container out of the depths of the mystical stream.

"If you wish to accompany me on my way, do as you will."

Throwing the half a ton gourd over his shoulder, he began his slow and painful departure from the woods. Each step he took hurt more than the last, but it was nothing the lionhearted chieftain couldn't endure for the health of his people. The first tree he approached, Konungr narrowed his gaze and "read" the bark before running his hand over it. He eyed his left before strolling in said direction.

"What makes you do this, Kokiri? You owe me no kindness nor hospitality. Is there something you seek or wish to know?"

He was questioning her kindness despite appreciating it deep down within his molten core of a heart.

The surprise was evident in her face as the Goron agreed to let her accompany him, albeit the way he did it was a bit passive. It almost felt as though he were telling her to go away.

Regardless, she followed, thinking of what he had said. Those that allowed mistrust to shroud their judgement...She had to agree...She remembered when Link had been with them. How some of the Kokiri hadn't trusted him due to his status as an outsider, and with no fairy. It made her sick...How some would refuse to recognize the bigger picture for silly reasons...

But she had to cast those thoughts aside for now. Instead, she decided to pay attention to how he found his way. She would help if he needed it...But surprisingy...He seemed to be finding his way quite well, reading the tree's bark. She had to admit, she was impressed. Not many who found themselves in these woods thought to do something like that...Nor could they.

She opened her mouth to compliment this skill, before he began first...hitting her with the question..."Why am I doing this?" she asked, both him and herself for a moment. "Well what reason DON'T I to try to help those that get lost in these Woods?" she answered with a question. "I'm sure you've heard the stories of the unfortunate things that befall people who get lost here..." she trailed off. "I've taken it upon myself to help those of good character out...I can tell...You have good intentions.", before she crossed her arms, suddenly becoming a bit more stern, looking to the giant as if he were a boy who had just done something wrong. She was aware of how comical it was, but that didn't change anything. She knew she had to do this... "Of course...That's not to say I don't wish to know some things before you go...Your name for one...And why you truly needed forest water, for two." her expression softened again. "I only want to help in any way I can...I'm afraid there's not much I can do with all this secretiveness."

Konungr gave thanks to the Kokiri—using as few words as possible. "Those with pure intentions find it rather easy to navigate these woods." He continued with his words to further show he truly did mean no harm. The Kokiri may have realized that, but Konungr was just covering the bases in case things went south—somehow or someway.

He fixated amber iris' on the girl as she asked her questions. Like he said earlier, she was entitled to them so he would answer truthfully.

"My name is Konungr."

Maybe he should tell her how he was Chieftain of the Goron's? Eh, or maybe he shouldn't? Regardless, he dismissed the thought and answered the following question.

"There's a war brewing within Death Mountain. This water should turn the tides, if only a little."

Navigation ( Saria ) Empty Re: Navigation ( Saria )

[OOC: So it appears I goofed on something, man...With this universe taking place after Twilight Princess, this means Ganondorf TECHNICALLY never took over Hyrule in this timeline...I talked with Zelda about it, and she said Saria would still remember, because sage.

But this sort of puts a plot hole in why she started talking to a guy who wouldn't know about it...Maybe she was testing Konnungr on how much Darunia had shared with the later generations? We can also just play it off that he thought she was talking about the events of Twilight Princess...

Also I'm posting this one on my phone. I apologize for any errors.]

The girl shook her head as the Goron further justified what she already knew of his intentions"Easier, maybe, but that doesn't mean its not still possible.". She pointed out, brushing a hand through her hair dismissively. "I prefer to play it safe. Ever since I learned of what becomes of those who become lost for too long, I would rather not let someone befall such a fate when I could have prevented it."

As he said his name, however, her smile returned. "Well then Mr. Konnungr. Its a pleasure to meet you then. My name is Saria. And my companion here is Gate." she gestured to the green fairy that flew about her, who said nothing in return...Until the Kokiri gave her a hard look. Then the fairy gave a sigh. "A...pleasure to meet you...I am Saria's fairy companion..." before the fairy quickly flew back behind her back.

Her face fell as he explained why he needed the water though. So the Gorons WERE in trouble...He had lied to her...But she didn't hold that against him. After all...How was that any different than what she and the Deku Tree had done to Link all those Years ago?

"So the Gorons ARE in trouble..." she sighed before continuing to ask "What is causing this, Mr. Konnungr? I doubt much I can do will aid in this...But I want to learn so I may do what I can." she looked to him hopeful that he would trust her enough to at least allow her to attempt something.

"Hello,"

Konungr gave a barbaric head gesture before pressing onward. As he continued, Konungr spoke—words still coated in a heavy coat of mystery. "War is a common occurrence upon Death Mountain, Saria. It's just the way things have to be." There was much more to the circumstances behind the way, but Konungr had no intentions on it being none by one that isn't a Goron or ally to the moutainfolk. With the entrance within view, the chief bestowed those harden hues back upon the friendly Kokiri.

"Don't confuse my words with those of distraught. We Goron's are fighters, we'll make it through. We always do."

Truth be told, this war has been going on since the beginning of time respectfully. It is the chieftains duty to lead and handle the situation accordingly when the times arises—and that time was now. Konungr took a step forward before turning around and eyeing the Kokiri yet again. "I thank you, Saria." What exactly he was thanking her for would remain a mystery for the time being. Reaching into his dusty cloak, Konungr showed a tan colored silk scarf with the Goron insignia imprinted within the soft fabric.

"If you ever find yourself in the Goron village, show this to any Goron and they will direct you to me. Maybe we can share stories over tea?" From behind his cloak he gave a genuine smile.

She had to frown a slight bit as he informed her of absolutely nothing...War a common occurrence on Death Mountain? That sounded like a far cry from the Gorons she had known oh so long ago...But his stubbornness was certainly something intact from all that time ago.

"Now that certainly reminds me of someone else I once knew..." Gate retorted, her normal demeanor beginning to return, as she eased up. Saria only rolled her eyes at the fairy as the familiar entrance to the tunnels leading to the Goron City came into view...She hadn't gone inside in so long...When Darunia had left this realm, she no longer had a reason as the Gorons began to grow more distant...Their mistrust of the Zoras beginning to return after his and Ruto's Peace Treaty was forgotten by later leaders between the two tribes...

As he told her not to worry, however, her smile returned...Although it was quite small. "That I know. I remember Darunia prided all of the Gorons on their strength..." she said with a giggle before looking to him, a bit more seriously. "But I mean it when I say don't overexert yourself...I may not be able to do much...But should you ever need light wounds healed, or pain soothed...I can help in a small way." she wanted to make sure he knew...That she was willing to offer aid to them.

She was genuinely overcome by surprise, however, as he offered thanks...Thanks for what? Letting him take the water? Regardless, her surprise only grew as he offered her to visit the Goron City and gave her the scarf...A special sign of friendship...She knew the importance...And that she should repay in kind.

"I would love to, Mr. Konnungr!" she said, her grin widening as she looked the piece of fabric over...Before placing it around her neck. The tan coloration clashed a bit with her entirely green wardrobe...But she didn't care. Now a large, rather goofy grin was plastered on her face, as she began to rifle in her pockets.

"I have a gift for you as well..." she claimed, as she pulled out a clay Ocarina. It actually appeared rather new. She handed it to the large Goron, informing him "This is a special type of Ocarina...A Fairy Ocarina...Blessed with the magic of the Forest's Spirits. It only contains a small amount...Not near as much as long, long ago when I began making them..." she trailed off, before pulling out her own Ocarina...The age more evident within it. "However, if you play my song...I will be able to speak with you...Anytime you wish to converse despite being apart, physically...Just play Saria's Song."

And then she began to play. The ensuing melody dancing all throughout the wood, closing her eyes as she did. The faeries, and wildlife seemed more lively as the jubilant song reached them.

When she stopped, she then turned to leave. "I only teach that song, and give my Instruments to friends I feel I can trust...I know I have only just met you...But I already feel a bond between us...I look forward to our next meeting." and with that, she began to walk back into the Woods...Soon disappearing from sight.

Konnungr has obtained the "FAIRY OCARINA"
"Play Saria's Song anytime you wish to speak with her. So long as she is available at the time."
