A loud bang that would repeatedly continue for a length unknown to the one that it was meant for, it was a sound of a door being repeatedly knocked upon by the fist of a man. He couldn’t actually say how long this knocking went on, but eventually the desired outcome came about and the young sleeping knight woke up groggily with tired eyes. “I’m up…Im up” Link grumbled loud enough for the knocker to hear. Link was surely hoping this match was to be forgotten, that he did not have to go out there, but it couldn’t be helped. It took him a while, but even so Link walked out of his bedroom in the barracks dressed in his trainee attire.

A bright ray of sunlight hit his weary eyes and Link could only shade his eyes from the harmful rays. He was definitely not a morning person, yet even so he always gained challenges taking place in the morning. He couldn’t necessarily know exactly what the reason was for this challenge but even so Link found himself standing before a group of knight, one knight standing in the lead with a blade held prepared to fight. All this started the previous day, after his discussion with the princess. It had seemed the knight was upset, possibly over something he had unknowingly done. It was fast and brash, a duel for the next day early in the morning, the other knights seemingly interested in such a duel.

“I didn’t think you’d show up…honestly thought you would have chickened out or something…” the knight said.

Link could only stare on at the knight with a weary look. He really did not want to comment that he was practically dragged out to fight here. It was cause of these cliché cocky knights that gave the other knights a bad name. He could only sigh as he drew out the blade resting on his back and held his shield as well, his opponent doing the same. Without a call to start his opponent immediately swung at him and Link’s eyes widened as he raised his sword and made contact, blocking the blade. Waking up a bit he narrowed his eyes as he stepped back once his opponent pushed forward, causing Link to jump back a bit.

The blade they wielded were real, not the wooden ones usually used for training. His opponent was so incessant about using these blades that Link eventually gave in. With blade in hand Link immediately began blocking a flurry of slashes from his opponent, cheers roaring from the other knights. They really held no desire for a certain knight to win in this fight and only wished to see sparring with real blade, but if they had to choose it was unanimous that they’d think Link’s opponent would win. It wasn’t due to skill but more so that Link was more of a nobody.

Link quickly brought up his shield and attempted to block however that shield eventually was knocked back to the side leaving him open. Narrowing his eyes, his sword locked against the knight’s blade, however quickly he felt pain as the knight’s boot connected with Link’s chest in the form of a kick. The blow caused Link to get knocked back, falling to the ground. Attempting to catch his breath, Link slowly attempted to rise to his knee, listening to the sudden laughter from the knight before him.

“Oh how your father would be rolling in his grave. I thought you’d at least bring a challenge, but your nothing…like father like son I guess” the knight said in between laughter, the other knights however some were silent while others stood with a smirk.

It was a typical thing, a knight saying words he really didn’t mean. Link knew this man would not have fought him if he did know Link was strong. Even so that man attempted to draw out anger in an attempt to make him feel better, he claimed his father was weak. Even so Link silently rose to his feet and held his blade. It was strange how he didn’t feel anger, but instead felt motivated. Thinking back to that grand man, for one to even say that Link represented such a man was an honor. If his skills were to represent his father than he would show his father’s skills to the best of his abilities. Upon standing straight Link immediately dashed forward, the opponent silencing upon the sudden movement. The knight’s eyes widened as Link immediately closed the distance between them. Immediately he began to swing his sword in a flurry of swipes, each blow precise and skillful. The knight struggled to block with both shield and sword. Steel clashed as the two fought on, Link moving forward while the knight in front of him stepped backwards over whelmed by the sudden onslaught. Both shield and sword were knocked to the side leaving him open and Link immediately thrust his shield forward, causing the knight to stagger. In a quick fluid movement Link dashed forward. His opponent attempted to slash, however Link immediately placed his hand on the knight’s shoulder and jumped over the man. Standing behind his opponent he quickly held his blade by the side of the knight’s head, the knight overwhelmed by the sudden movement fell to his knees in shock.

Closing his eyes he let out a sigh and smiled. The fight was finally over and he could at the very least finally get some rest. He of course couldn’t really say what it was that started this entire duel, but all that mattered was that it was over. He walked off leaving the stunned man along with some knights quite surprised and others being impressed. For now Link would probably attempt to get some rest or even probably get some of his own training in. Thinking back to it he still couldn’t forget his little discussion with the princess, unaware of the jealousy his opponent must have felt secretly having watching an unknown knight interact with such a high ranked princess.
