Aberham walked into the cafe in castle town,

He was glad that he had kept his entire career anonymous to all but a few peaple. Sure he had to deal with those knights a while back, but he had killed them all and they were no longer a threat.

He liked castle town, it was the best city he knew. The best food, the best inn's, the most familiar people. But he knew that somewhere in this town, the hero of Hyrule probably lived here. Along with the princess Zelda, and along with the castle and the main base of operations. He knew that one day he would lead the assault on that castle, his name known deep in the hearts of every man, woman and child in Hyrule.

But for now his face and name were not well known on the continent. He stopped into town not because he was hungry, not because he wanted to kill everyone inside. He walked down into the center of town and stopped at the best cafe in the entire city. It was not fancy, or expensive. But it was big, it was local and it had some of the best food in Hyrule. Many people in the town ate there for lunch everyday and Aberham wished he could do the same.

He stopped in on one of its most busiest days unfortunately. This cafe was known for speedy service and always having a place to sit, even if it is not where you want to sit. He walked in and a young woman with two big plates, one in each hand, and a pitcher of milk on her head who was a waitress told him to follow her to his seat. The dark knight had to enter a slow jog to keep up with her, but his legs were longer and he had no trouble.

She sat him down and asked for his order. He then thought for a moment and asked for a ham, egg, and cheese sandwich along with a bottle of milk. The woman pored him a bottle immediately and went off to go fetch his sandwich from the kitchen. Aberham tilted the front of his visor up ever so slightly so he could sip his drink. He did not want people seeing his face. He maneuvered himself so he was sitting with his black and red cape hanging to the side. It was more dignified. When he looked around the cafe he realized that if anyone else came in they would be asked to sit at his booth.

With a loud sigh the blade in his hand was spun, the movement was quick and smooth as he sheathed the blade upon the sheath resting on his back that also held his unused shield for the exercise. Keeping in top form was something that was something that needed to be done every day and Link was not one to shy away from training. Even though he did not mind training, there was however there were limits that needed to be placed so that the body was not overworked. So long as the body was healthy it would also be able to grow even stronger.

In this case the best thing and most necessary thing that was apparent seemed to be to feed his body. Hunger was something that came to the young knight and Link marched on towards the town in order to find something to eat. It was during this time that the street would usually be packed. Numerous people would be roaming around attempting to live on with their daily lives. The hustle and bustle of the city life, it was brought on by the peace that Hyrule had been able to maintain for so long. Link couldn’t help but smile softly as he watched on, walking so that he wouldn’t necessarily get in the way of others.

There was a café that Link would usually gain his lunches and dinner at. Usually he wasn’t the greatest at making meals so usually he would come here for a meal whenever he was tired of the few dishes he could actually make. Just like the streets it seemed that the café was crowded as well. Coming here for lunch probably wasn’t the best idea at this time, but hunger called and he had to make due. Luckily it seemed there was a seat open and Link was directed towards such a seat.

Taking a seat once he was given it, Link smiled and ordered a sandwich and some milk, allowing the waitress to leave with his order. With her gone Link leaned back against his chair and let out a sigh, he normally would have changed into a more casual outfit however he had been in quite a rush to get some food that he had practically forgot to take off his training armour. He placed his sword and shield to the side and leaned back closing his eyes with a sigh enjoying the casual rest he was taking off. He opened his eyes and glanced around until he noticed a peculiar sight. At the table beside his own sat another knight, a knight he knew he had never seen before dressed in armour. Curious he looked over at the other knight quite interested. Surely this man was not a knight of the castle, at least that’s what he thought.

Aberham tore into his food, though not in the way you would expect.

He ate at a normal pace sure but every bit he took was at least two to three times as big as a normal bite! The quality of the food was good, the bread was not particularly rough or particularly soft. The meat and cocoo eggs were both fresh and though he couldn't quite place if he was eating goat cheese or cheese from a cow he merly shrugged his shoulders and sipped his milk at a similar rate. He finished his food in about three bites and after he politely wiped his mouth clean he asked his passing waiter as soon as she came back for another, and a refill on his milk. Milk was not like ale, you could drink it until you got sick and it would only make your bones stronger and your back better aligner with the rest of you. There was truly no fresher milk than that of castle town, even if they served it in small bottles. She poured him another glass and he started on it immediately.

It was when he knocked his head back for another sip that he saw out of the corner of his eye a knight, he was almost certainly a knight of the castle, even if he was a little young. Still, Aberham himself was only twenty eight years old. But still old enough to join the army, still old enough to be a knight. He could not tell if he was a knight or a squire yet to prove himself, but he was to old to be a page. He waved him over. "Hey, another knight. Come sit with me friend." The black knight never got to talk to anyone on the road so if he could get some company he would rather it be someone like him. If link looked at him closely he would be able to make out a bronze/brown shimmer in the bigger chinks of his armor, it was a telltale sign of dragon scales. If you could slay the dragon to get the armor, then you were surly a great warrior to have done it alone.

This man was quite a foreign one, one he could tell was somebody probably one who was from a different land or perhaps one who traveled around. Link was actually impressed to see such a man in the café and interested as well. He noticed the man begin to eat, not really taking off his armour as he did so, but even so his eyes widened the very moment that he was called out, caught off guard by the man calling out at him. It was only at this point he realized he must have been staring at the man. It was something rude however it seemed the man did not seem to take mind of that and even seemed to welcome him over to join him.

A bit nervous by the sudden man calling him forward, Link couldn’t help but nod at the man and decide to accept the invitation. Rising up to his feet, Link took grasp of his belongings and brought them along with him as he took a seat across the man, placing his things back on the floor once more. “Im sorry for staring, but thank you” Link said with a smile as he looked at the armoured man. Sitting down and eating in amour seemed very inconvenient, however that man seemed to hold experience. In Link’s eyes he could see that the man held many feats under his belt, just by looking at the armour itself. The sight of dragon scales upon the amour showed the man’s experience and it only made Link even more curious about this man.

Just what exactly brought such a man over to Castle Town, what business did he have here? Was he a traveller merely passing by? Or maybe the man held business in the town. In any case Link was glad that such an experienced looking man seemed willing to speak to him “You’re not around from here are you? Are you a traveller?” Link asked curiously.

Aberham was glad the other knight would sit with him, no one was really rude in Hyrule. That was why he liked his home kingdom better than anywhere else in the world. "Yes you could say that, more along the lines of a freelance knight than an adventurer." He held the accent of a man from Hyrule, a working man. Even though as of late he had been staying in nice inn's and eating nice food, killing war Cyclopes, fending off a dozen attackers at a time, and pile driving dragons from several story's up into the air back on the ground, (yes all of that has happened, read his missions to see) was very hard work, even if it did not occupy his every hour.

His every movement made a large amount of noise, audible even over all of the chatter of the cafe around them. He was wearing two pairs of very heavy armor, he was like a walking tank. A tank the creaked despite of it's overall quality. "What are you? Hylian knight? I always wanted to be one of those when I was a lad." The waitress placed both of their sandwiches steaming hot on the table, Abe gave her a nod of thanks. He really would have to eat here more often....

Listening to the man speak made it more so apparent that the man before him held a Hyrulian accent. The man confirmed he was a traveller, but more so that of a freelancer. A life in which a man played by his own laws, choosing his own path and working for whoever he pleased. Such a life was something that Link always wondered about. He loved to travel about and he enjoyed seeking new places and meeting new people. Link was sure that the knight before him must have seen many different places and met new people. Link realized he was one of many.

The huge man began to speak once more asking him a question however they were interrupted once their food arrived. Link had almost totally forgotten about his hunger and seeing his meal arrive he gave the woman his thanks before looking down upon the food before them. Of course he felt like eating, but he was more so interested in speaking to this knight as well and probably would have found it rude to eat and ignore his question. “Yes I am a knight of Hyrule…err…well sort of” Link said bashfully scratching the back of his head. “I was one of the last of the knights to of been coroneted by the king before his passing. I am still new to the title of knight and still have much to learn” Link said looking down to his sandwich before taking a bite and taking a sip of his milk. Once his mouth was clear he turned his attention to the knight. “You must be very experienced having travelled, your armour itself says all. It’s well-crafted” Link said

Aberham looked down at his armor. Well, both of his armors. One was of some of the finest steel with a darkened tone and the other which was under the first was made out of Cyclops skin and the scales from the hardest part of a minor dragon, a Drake. Easy as hard as any steel. "Thank you. I have delved one point seven million rupees into this suit of combined armor. Insuring that no arrow or common sword could pierce it. More than half of that price went into a strength increasing enchantment. I do not like to brag, but when I am wearing the steel plate I have the physical strength of a master. Stronger than anyone I have heard of that is real and alive right now."

"Take the hero of Hyrule." He said in between his other paragraph and a bite of his sandwich. He was eating at a lesser rate now, but still enough to put a bare to shame. "I've read about how he was able to lift towers of obsidian that reached into the sky over his head and toss them a hundred yards away." He took a sip of his drink. "Oh listen to me ramble, so you were one of the last accepted huh?" Abe thought over the few knights he had met in his life. Mostly on the bakers dozen he had recently killed. They were good sorts, patriotic, brave, skilled. To bad they were on the wrong side. "You seem like a brave young man. When I was your age I was like you, itching to prove myself. Not to the crown, but to a mercenary company...." Another drink. "Boy didn't that not work out..."

Most of what the knight said before him was interesting to listen to. He was honestly quite surprised to hear how much work must have been put into the armour, but at the same time it was also reasonable after realizing the man’s occupation. Regardless with such rupees having been placed into such armour the man surely must have been loaded.

The man boasted his strength and just looking at him he could tell the man was able to back that up. If Link were to even fight the man he didn’t even think he would even pose a challenge for the elder knight. It was amazing thinking about how many powerful beings there must have been and the hero of Hyrule was a great example of such a being. Chewing on his sandwich as he listened to his speak and once the knight believed he was rambling, Link shook his head “no that’s fine, I like listening” Link said. Link was not always the most talkative of people. There were even time where he could get through a conversation by just grunting.

Smiling, Link looked down upon the cup of milk he held “Well, it’s nice to get recognition, but that’s not why I became a knight” Link said taking a sip before placing his drink down again. “There are many kind and innocent people who live here…need protection. I want to be able help them in any way possible” Link said.

"I-.... thought that way to. When I was young." Aberham felt a bit sad, for a moment he thought that he was being a knight for all the wrong reasons. There was no sense of wonder anymore, no storybook fantasy like those he would read when he was a boy. It had become a job, a threatening, dangerous, hard, unrewarding job. It gave much wealth, but demanded blood in return. His heart was still broken ever since that one bad job that changed everything.

He shook it off, like it or not he wasn't a kid anymore. He was a man, who was in charge of himself. This wasn't some book, this was his life. He briefly wondered the age of the boy, old enough he supposed. Old enough to be of age to give his life for his king and young enough to do it for the right reasons. Was he doing it for the right reasons? Did he like killing people? Yes he responded to himself, the glory of battle was the one thing that he lived for. The rush of taking a hit, the surge of superiority from a kill. This bit of introspection would have to wait however, he was having a conversation.

"Is this your future? Are you going to die a knight for your kingdom? Do you hope to move up or get married?" It was a few simple questions, but they were some important things for anyone to ask themselves.

Link noticed a change in the man upon his answer. Did he say something he was not supposed to? Link did not seem to see any real fault in what he said, but once the man spoke he realized that this was not something because of what he said, but instead was the man’s past that seemed to cause this. He wondered what it was that caused such a man to give up such a dream, but he felt it was not his place to ask such questions.

Taking a drink from his milk, his eyes widened the very moment he heard the question the elder had to ask him. Nearly choking on his drink, Link struggled to swallow in order to not spit it out. Once he swallowed he began to pant “m-marriage?!” Link said. The question itself was nothing supposed to be surprising and it was something simple, however Link himself couldn’t really say he knew why he reacted as such. “Umm…I haven’t really put that much thought into it” Link said scratching the side of his head “I’ve never thought of the idea of being…married, however it’d be nice to start a family…” Link said a bit shyly.

With a sigh, Link leaned back against his chair and looked upwards. “Even so I will give my all for the kingdom…though this does not really mean that I will be sacrificing having a family as well.” Link said smiling softly “My father…he was one of the greatest knights in this kingdom, yet he still held time to raise me….yet even now that he is gone….he is my motivation. I wish to be a grand knight like him” Link said.

Aberham pushed his plate away, his meal half finished. He was not hungry anymore, just a bit sad with himself. "It's good to think about the future. You start thinking day by day and pretty soon you don't know up from down, things change and you miss them. You are only young once, it pretty much determines who you are and what you will be doing for the rest of your life. Do yourself a favor, get a stable job, try to meet someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, don't let your family make you up and don't for the love of the three goddesses take up a career in killing things. No matter what you fight for it will never feel worth it at the end of the day." Aberham felt somber a little bit sick. The thought of putting any more of the food in front of him inside his body made it even worse. "Don't..." He stood up. "be a...." he turned around and pushed in his chair. "knight." He walked away almost stumbling in his own skin. When he was out of the cafe nothing seemed right about the town, the walls used to make him feel so safe, back in his early days this is where he set his base of operations when he was a lowly adventurer getting chewed up by wolves for a living. He took the shortest possible route to the stables and thought about why he was wanted, the black knight was a mass murderer of men, good and evil alike. He was wanted in town and he deserved it, he vowed to leave this place and never come back until he was storming the place with the army's of evil behind him.

Speaking with this knight was great and a great eye opener for the future he was to take. He ate his sandwich and enjoyed his milk, still listening to the man’s words as he spoke, however things took a different turn. Still chewing on his sandwich he looked up at the man as he suddenly pushed away his sandwich and raised an eyebrow. He listened on but the very moment the man got up and pushed in his chair Link’s eyes widened caught off guard. The man seemed sad, but what was it to cause such a reaction?

Swallowing his food, Link rose up to his feet and reach out “hey wait!” Link called out but by that time the knight was already gone. “I…didn’t even get to ask for your name…” Link said softly before taking a seat once more. With what the man said, Link began to think of what he said. It gave him much to think about, but Link was determined and unwavering with his decision to be a knight. He knew that someday just maybe, the two would eventually come across each other. With a sigh, Link payed for both him and the knights meals and with that done Link placed on his weaponry and returned back to the training grounds.
