Saria watched attentively as her students worked. A couple of days ago, so many things had changed within the Forest that it was actually sort of difficult for her to believe these were the same children she had helped the Deku Tree look over for centuries…Yes…This was a turning point for the Forest…She could feel it. Whether it was for better or for worse…Time would only tell. She wanted to believe that when this was done, that things would go back to normal…But a nagging feeling said otherwise. No…More had to be done to prevent them from going too far with this ability…She still remembered how…he…had acted after leaving and experiencing the world beyond…He had not been the same as when she had last seen him when he left on that important journey. She had to do something to prevent that. Now what exactly that was? Now that was a good question…One she was desperately searching in her mind an answer to…

“What are you thinking about, Sar? You seem a bit detached...I thought you were super excited for this?” Gate asked, for once showing some real compassion. The fairy might have been rude, crass, and tactless most of the time, but she DID care for her Kokiri even if she didn’t make that too clear too often. Saria snapped out of her thoughts, turning to her longtime companion, and friend. “Oh I am, Gate…While Yorrel’s death was tragic…I’m glad that the others are learning from it. Taking the initiative to better themselves past what we’ve been doing for the last several hundred years…sitting here twiddling our thumbs…But…” she trailed off, looking down in thought.

“But?” Gate urged her to continue, the forest girl’s attention snapping back up to the fairy. “But…I’m unsure if they’ll be able to use their new skills for the right reasons….” She admitted. “I’ve been helping guide travelers out of these Woods for centuries, but not all have been of good virtue…I can sense the auras of someone…But the others can’t. If they start defending the forest as well will they know who to help? And who to ignore or to route out? Mr. Chase and Mr. Axel seem to have their hearts in the right place, but I can’t help but feel…like this might backfire in some way…Somehow…” the Forest’s Sage sighed looking to the fairy. “Are we doing the right thing in training the village in the ways of combat?” she questioned with a grim expression.

The fairy paused, at a loss for words…As she was finally about to respond, the tell-tale sign of grass crunching alerted both of them to the presence of another approaching them. Turning to look, they saw a certain student approach. Wynn. She especially had been taking this a bit rougher than most...Mostly in that she had been close friends with poor Yorrel.  Years ago, the Kokiri mostly had red hair with some exceptions, such as Saria. As time went on, however, the newer Kokiri gained more varied hair colors. Wynn, however, had the traditional color, tied in the front by a white headband. In the back, it cascaded down her shoulders, though in the front, her face was lined by a part that was separated from the rest. Again, unlike most of the Kokiri, she had adopted a similar style to Saria in that she wore a dark green turtleneck beneath her tunic.
“Saria? Is everything OK? Everyone’s been getting a bit worried…You haven’t been offering as much commentary….” The younger Kokiri stated a bit nervously. Saria offered her a kind smile. “I’m fine, Wynn….I’ve just been debating some things…I’m sorry. Is everything OK with all of you?” she asked, putting aside her own concerns…To focus on preventing them from coming to light.

Wynn shuffled her foot a bit at that. “Well…Yes…But I think everyone’s beginning to lose a bit of motivation…Some of us are having trouble coming up with spell ideas…And some others are beginning to express doubt in doing this in the first place…” At that, Saria stood, giving her a nod. “I see…” she said as the other Kokiri looked to her, some running off…Only to return a minute later with more members of the training group until all had returned.

“I understand some of us are having troubles? And doubts?” she asked…to mixed results. Some of the Kokiri seemed indifferent, while some raised their hands reluctantly…Obviously the ones who had been having troubles…..While others looked to the ground nervously….The ones beginning to lose hope. Saria looked to them all, scanning the crowd, before speaking again. “Well then allow me to try to solve both problems at once…I realize this can be a challenge…Learning something that you have never really considered before…Especially after such a tragic event…But giving up is not a good way to go about it…I asked you all when we began if you were devoted to this…And no one objected…If we don’t make an effort to change, then this will happen again. More and more travelers have been in these Woods of late. Not all are of bad virtue…But for the ones who are, if we wish to live without fear, we all need to learn to defend ourselves.”

All watched on as she gave her speech, some beginning to feel guilty before she continued. “That said, we need be cautious…If possible, not throw ourselves into danger…Only approach those who seem of trustworthy nature…But always be prepared for if they should turn out not to be.” At that, she offered a hand out. “Is everyone convinced?” she asked as they all began to nod,Wynn especially seemed inspired.

“Good. Now…For those who are lacking inspiration, let’s all have another focus session…learn to focus your inner magics…” she stated…As they all did…Closing their eyes and looking downward…Everyone focusing their senses on gathering the forest’s magic within them…Some quicker than others. As they stopped, she then looked to them all…Sensing a newfound inspiration. “Now…Let’s go on another walk through the Forest…Help find ideas for those having trouble.” And as she stepped off the stump, the group all began to follow without question…A large step had just been taken today.
