Just from Saria’s words his eyes widened, taken back by the sudden revelation that was told to him. The hero of time, the fabled legendary hero, he was the reincarnation of such a great man? He couldn’t believe such a thing; it was just too hard to believe. The man that would bring light to Hyrule, the man that Zelda had been awaiting, he was that man. It all seemed so simple, yet even so though the idea seemed so impossible, it actually made somethings make more sense in a way.

“A hero….” Link said closing his eyes calmly as he paused and remained quiet. He didn’t know what to say to this, he was overwhelmed with thoughts. He listened to Zelda speak and call him her hero, but that was wrong. “I…am no hero…” Link said softly. “I am just a man doing what he thinks is right, I’ve done nothing that one could be considered worthy of being a hero” Link said before looking down upon the hand that held Zelda’s “I…still find it difficult to believe such a thing…but” Link said but looked up at Saria with a determined look upon his face. “But if I can help Zelda in any way I can…I will do whatever I can” Link said.

A dark look crossed her as the Princess spoke of the reason for their presence. "I figured...As much as I would like to believe otherwise, the goddesses only reincarnate the Hero in times of need...And so I, Saria, Sage of the Forest, am entitled to help aid you both." she gave a bow to show her respect to both of them. Even if they weren't truly her long lost friends...She still knew that on some level, they still had their essences. And she could accept that.

When Zelda made mention of Impa, however, she couldn't hide the smile. "Good to know Impa has been returned in spirit as well...I wonder if Perseus already made his journey back home..." she wondered aloud before shaking her head out of her thoughts.

Then Link stated his thoughts on being the hero. She looked to him sternly, crossing her arms. "Link..If there's one thing your past self taught me...Its that humility is the very definition of a Hero. Doing things for the sake of others rather than just yourself...You're well on your way. But take at least some pride in your achievements...After all. For a lowly knight, you've already gained the trust of the Princess it seems." she couldn't hold back the giggles as she said that last part, her stern act fading instantly

So Impa was a reincarnate as well? She supposed that she couldn't be too surprised by the thought of that. For thousands of years, the nursemaid of all Zelda's seemed to conveniently be named Impa, though she thought it was just a tradition of sorts. There was still so much to learn about the cycle it seemed. When Link had spoken about not being sure if he was the hero though, Zelda frowned lightly, looking back at him.

"You must be joking," she chuckled. "From what I could tell... you can hold your own pretty well with a blade in your hand. I mean... perhaps your devotion to wanting to protect Hyrule and all of this is because of your past lives. It just comes naturally to you," she looked down, shrugging. Her ears had suddenly perked up though when Saria spoke of Perseus. Turning her head quickly, she blinked a few times.

"Wait, Perseus was here? Why? Was he okay?" she frowned, slightly worried. "He had only left the castle to return home a few days ago..."

Link looked on upon the girl as she spoke on about him needing more confidence in his own achievements. He blinked quite taken back by the sudden stern talking to from the child bodied sage only to end with a childish giggle. Just seeing this, Link couldn’t help but smile softly at her and nod “Your right, but even so if I truly am the hero, I will need to prove myself…” Link said still smiling. Speaking with the forest sage, it held a sense of nostalgia to him. It was still difficult for him to really take in that he is the hero, but slowly he was adapting to the idea.

Zelda complimented him for his skills with the sword, but she believed that his devotion to Hyrule was due to his past lives. It was possibly quite true however even so he wished to believe that he chose his own path, that he was not bound by his past lives. Listening to Zelda and Saria speak, Link released Zelda’s hands and crossed his arms calmly as he listened to them speak about prince Perseus. Looking from Zelda and Saria, the young knight listened on, casually wondering if the prince and princess had something more than just a friendship.

The Forest Sage beamed with pride upon hearing Link's words. "Now that's the Link I know...Er...Knew, as I suppose as the case may be... " she trailed off, her grin faltering for a moment. She couldn't quite explain it...But being amongst these two...She felt more alive than she had in years, save for perhaps when meeting Konnungr, and Perseus again...Even still...She knew that while this Link looked, and acted like the man her brother had grown into after leaving...It still wasn't him exactly. She couldn't act so familiar as she had grown accustomed to all that time ago...He had been her brother, and best friend...This man was a Royal Knight who looked so much like him...But still had his own path to make other than his destined heroics.

Zelda, however, seemed a bit alarmed when she mentioned Perseus. Saria looked to her a bit confused, but answered regardless. "He was, The Prince of Labrynna wandered in a few days ago, and I had a chat with him...I suppose you could say that in a way...We met long ago...Of course, he was only a baby at the time." she waved her hand a bit dismissively, laughing a bit at the thought before continuing "I think he had a lot on his mind...Issues with his father mainly it seemed." she worded carefully. She didn't want to invade his privacy too much after all. "I can't say for sure, but I believe he was going to catch his boat when he left...I think he was...slightly...better off when he left...I fear I may have increased his worries with the news of our first meeting, however...He seemed even more uneasy of his father...I worry about him...He seemed so astray..." she sighed looking down.

Zelda frowned slightly at Saria's words. Was Perseus really that out of it to where he would find himself wandering into the woods? He did seem a bit off when the two had met, but she figured that it may have been from everything that had happened. "I suppose I should have asked him if he was okay," she sighed. "I had been so worked up about my visions and my father that I didn't even realize that he was worrying about something himself. He's a good friend of mine, so I worry."

It was a bit more complicated than that though, to be honest. For Zelda, it was true - he was one of her best friends. For him... it was so much more, and she felt terrible for it. King Galadhion insists on their marriage, but she thanked the goddesses that Percy was respectful enough to decline it since she did not feel the same way about him that he did. She just wished he wouldn't wait around for her. She wasn't sure if it would ever change.

"King Galadhion is... something else," she sighed. "For as long as I've known Percy, he's been nothing but overbearing and demanding, expecting far too much from him. Percy wasn't even allowed to leave the castle until he was 18 unless it was on business trips," she shrugged. "I'm sure he'll be okay. He may have been a bit shaken from the vision I had told him about... which is another thing I need to mention," she bit her lip. "I have reason to believe that Ganondorf has been resurrected."

Re: Escort and the Hero [Private - MISSION]

It really felt as if he really was speaking to a dear old friend. To have such a familiarity with such a girl he only just met, it must have meant that the hero of time and Saria were close. Link listened on to the concerns that Zelda had over Prince Perseus. Of course Link had never met the prince before nor the king of Labrynna before, but he could only assume that the prince was somebody good natured from the way that Zelda and Saria spoke of him. This conversation did not really involve him, but that was something Link assumed was going to be the case. He had absolutely idea that he’d even be a part of the overall discussion in general.

Listening her suddenly change the topic his eyes perked up slightly upon hearing the name of the king of darkness, however the knight remained calm. The very Ganondorf, if he was to fight the nemesis of the hero than this battle was sure to be a great one. The pressure was truly on for the hero as he listened to them speak.

Saria offered the Princess a hand for comfort...Since she couldn't really reach her shoulder. She knew the Princess was truly worried about Perseus...Part of her wanted to speak more of her meeting with the Labrynna Prince and the way they knew each other...But there were important matters to be had. And besides...She didn't want to disrespect his privacy in discussing such matters behind his back.

"It sounds as though everyone's had a lot on their minds lately...Don't blame yourself. Hopefully you can both talk about it soon...I remember when his father was here all those years ago I sensed a rather strange aura...One that seemed all over the place..." she sighed before then snapping her attention to the last thing the Princess said.

"As I suspected...After all...I doubt you two would be here otherwise..." she pointed out. "And should that be the case...We need to be prepared. Do you know who any of the other sages are? We must gather as quick as we can to prevent him from gaining too much power..." she spoke with a grave seriousness here...She knew what would happen should he manage to succeed...Not again...Never again.

"I was actually hoping that you would have the answer to that..." Zelda sighed. "Records show you're the longest surviving sage thus far... so any of the others are most likely not even aware of their destiny." Biting her lip, she looked off past the two of them and into the trees, taking a moment to recollect herself from the dream that had haunted her for weeks. "If we can't find them, I fear we may be too late. Ganondorf will reach their temples and draw them in and capture them."

She knew there was always a chance for the hero to save them before they were in too much danger, but for now, it was not in their best interest to allow that much time to be wasted. "I'm sure Impa would want to speak with you about these matters, too, and if Link really is the hero..." she turned and looked at him, smiling faintly, "then we're going to have to have a gathering with the other rulers of the neighboring kingdoms, as well as those who can help us plan for the future accordingly. Though we should keep the knowledge of your role in this to a minimum... the world doesn't need to know yet."

Looking back at Saria, she backed up, next to Link once more as she pursed her lips, trying to find words. Could Kokiri leave the forest? She had always heard the rumors that they would die if they tried, though she wasn't very sure. "If you're able, you should come with us, Saria. You'll be wanted at this feast, especially if we're going to be discussing a plan of action for finding the other sages."

Link listened carefully as the two spoke. The two were more knowledgeable on the subject more than he was and all he really could do was merely recall old tales his father told him as well as mere feeling he had due to his previous life. They were lucky that they had Saria, however there were still 6 more sages left to find and they didn’t even know how long it would be until Ganondorf would make his move.

As Zelda spoke on, Link looked down at her and eventually noticed her look up at him and speak of a meeting, causing the young knight to raise an eyebrow. A meeting involving him, he was quite unsure about being able to be around royalty like this, it was only a day or so since he was nothing more than an average knight and not that long since he was a squire. With this Link looked over at Saria, truly hoping that the girl would be able to attend such a meeting. He truly wished to at least have somebody he knew other than Zelda. Zelda would most likely be busy with the other members of royalty and Saria already felt strangely like both a younger and older sister to him.

Re: Escort and the Hero [Private - MISSION]

Post by Saria on Fri Mar 20, 2015 1:50 pm

Saria gave a brief nod as Zelda informed her that none of the other Sages were likely even aware of their destinies. "I understand, princess...Just as I was once unaware of my eventual duty as a sage...I know the sages of my time are long gone...They have been for centuries..." she hesiitantly paused at that thought not wishing to dwell there for too long before continuing. "The sages are all connected in some way to their temple, even before awakening." she turned to look to the Forest Temple. "This had been my secret spot long before I knew of what the Goddesses had planned for me...The others should be in some way connected to their temples even without them knowing of their connection to them." she then closed her eyes, reciting the way the Zelda she had known all those years ago had described them. "One in a deep forest...One on a high mountain...One under a vast lake...One within the House of the Dead...One inside a Goddess of the Sands...And one in the light hidden away from this world..." she looked to both of them, offering a small smile. "Fortunately, I know where these temples are...Though getting to them may be quite an issue."

Then Zelda spoke of the royal allegations that they would have to do between the other kingdoms...And of her being needed to travel with them...Away from the Forest...She had been away from the Forest plenty a time after Link had brought them peace. To experience the world, and to visit her fellow Sages within their homes, outside of the Temple of Light, just as they did likewise for her.

But that had been back in times of peace. Now there had been so many intruders within the Woods, she couldn't help but feel that she WAS needed in the Forest at the moment...But they needed her too...To stop Ganondorf...

She looked between the two, as they awaited her decision. Zelda seemed nervous. Unsure of how to continue. She needed help. And Link...She didn't know why, but even though this wasn't the same man she had known all that time ago, yet...She still felt a sibling bond with him even though she hadn't raised him like the Link from back then.

Finally she made a decision. "I wouldn't miss it for the world, Princess." she smiled looking between the two. "I know I am needed for the greater scheme of things...Although I worry the Kokiri may not be completely ready for me to take my leave..." she sighed. "More travelers have been finding their ways within of late...Not all of pure virtue..." she shook her head, as she stepped towards them. "I still plan to accompany you...But before we leave, I wish to speak with the Great Deku Tree, and the two Hyilians who have been helping us train in the ways of self-defense...And to inform the others of my leaving." she explained, before beginning to head down the ancient stairs that led into her Meadow. "I apologize...But please follow me...There's much I must do before we leave...In fact...Perhaps you would both like a rest before we leave? I imagine you both must be exhausted."

Re: Escort and the Hero [Private - MISSION]

Resting didn't even cross Zelda's mind. She had completely forgotten how long the journey had actually been, and it would be dark very soon, seeing as the sun was setting. Turning to Link, she pursed her lips for a moment and then sighed, nodding in agreement with Saria. "We really should rest for the night. We won't make it back to the castle before the drawbridge closes for the night." Even if she could get them to draw it back down, there was no reason to put the guards on high alert so late at night if they were safe.

"Perhaps we should get some rest then and then take our leave in the morning, if you know of somewhere we can stay safely." Her hand had moved up to the clasp of her cloak, fiddling with it nervously. This entire journey was rather overwhelming for her - not only had she only left the castle town a few times overall in her life, she never had slept anywhere but her own room, or in the guest chamber of another castle. Being so vulnerable to the creatures of the night was something she was not used to.

With all that was going on he didn’t even realize just how much time had passed as well as how fatigued they must have been with all that had gone. There were so many things that Link now had to think about and even now after having been noted about rest he still did not feel tired. Even so, Link figured that the princess must have been feeling some form of fatigue and once she looked over at him, he gave her a nod in response as well.

His main objective was to keep the princess safe and sound. It was the mission he was given, but one that he accepted willingly and did because he desired it. In such a deep forest where many beasts roamed, Link was ready to deal with any beast that dared to appear before them. Noticing Zelda’s nervousness, Link placed a hand on her shoulder reassuringly and smiled at her, hoping to ease her of her doubt.

Saria nodded as she began to lead the two back into the ancient labrynth, knowing exactly the path needed to go. "Of course! Within the Kokiri Forest we actually have plenty of available stumps...Though I must apologize in advance if the size does not accommodate..." she thought for a moment as they began to leave the ancient crumbling walls behind, leaving her sacred meadow. "Princess, you can use my house for the night. I can take one of our spare houses..." she looked to Link. "And I know exactly where you can stay, Link..." though she seemed a bit more somber with those words.

"I'll ready myself tonight...Tomorow, we shall meet with the Dek Tree, and the Hyilian Travelers we have been housing. If I am to take my leave, then I am afraid they shall not be able to stay...However, I do know one will wish to join us." she turned to the pair. "Are either of you familiar with the Waystrider clan? One member has joined us in await for the Hero of Time...And sure enough, Link...Here you are." she laughed slightly, before sighing.

"I only hope the other Kokiri are ready for me to take my leave for this cause...We have been training them in self-defense of late...But I wonder if they are ready." she admitted, guiding them through the hollow trees within the Woods....Getting closer and closer to the hidden village.
