Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

It was unlike the young knight to of awoken so early in the morning. Normally the youth would have preferred to of slept in instead of roam about so early in the morning. It was far too early when Link thought about it, but nonetheless he was up and ready. Perhaps it was those strange dreams he was having that made it more difficult for him to get some rest, but either or Link truly tried his best not to have the dreams affect him too much. If anything it motivated him further.

A clash of wood that would mimic the clash of steel was rung out in the courtyard. With wooden swords in their hand the two knights squared off. It was just his luck that there was another knight who was awake at this time. A big burly knight who’s cockiness knew no bounds. Of course for a man to see the young Link walking about it was only a perfect opportunity for him to show off his strength and beat down a puny knight. And so here they were, dueling with wooden swords so early in the morning.

The burly knight repeatedly continued to slash forward at Link, but the young knight was nimble and fast. Repeatedly stepping backwards, Link continued sway from side to side, avoiding the wooden sword heading towards him, while parrying a few of the other slashed with great skill. Each dodged blow only caused the burly man to get more and more aggravated. Eventually Link pressed his feet against the ground and instead stepped forward, slashing with his sword at the man. The two wooden swords became locked against each other and to the burly man’s distaste he found himself getting overpowered and pushed back by Link. Taking another step forward, Link proceeded on the offense.

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

Post by Zelda Wed Feb 18, 2015 2:06 pm

It was hard to sleep with this grief and worry constantly washing over her. It hadn't even been a week since the dreams started, and every time she managed to fall asleep, it came back, just as vivid and terrifying. With her father's passing conveniently placed in the middle of this, there really wasn't much she could do to keep her mind calm. Too much was happening, all at once. The only thing that truly calmed Zelda was to walk along the courtyards, though she didn't even feel motivated enough to do that. She barely left the castle, not making conversation with anyone, except for Impa.

She couldn't live like this anymore. If something was coming, she had to be prepared for it. She had to hold her head high and be the ruler she was meant to be, leading her people toward peace. As she pushed herself out of the doors of her room, she made her way out of the castle, wearing her usual royal attire which consisted of her blush pink dress and armored shoulders. Her long blonde hair flowed back from the wind as she exited the castle, making her way around the courtyards where the training area was.

She could hear the clash of metal swords - there must have been a few soldiers training, which didn't really bother her, but many of the soldiers acted as though they were incredibly small compared to her. She didn't want them to feel as though they had to stop what they were doing and give her the entire space to train - she was one of them. Quietly making her way to the entrance of the training area, she watched quietly for them to finish, though one of the soldiers caught her eye.

He had blonde hair, blue eyes, and he seemed as though he knew what he was doing. He seemed determined, though that wasn't what caught her off guard the most - it was this strange sense of familiarity. There was something about him that was drawing her in, as though she had known him from somewhere in the past. How had she not seen him before?

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

Letting out a loud grunt, Link cried out as he began slashing over at the knight he was training against. His blows were quick and powerful and his training partner struggled in an attempt to parry the blows. The knight was getting pushed back, with each swing he was finding things much more difficult and he found his position to be that of a disadvantage. Though this was all bad, what was worse was his anger was growing more and more as he parried the blow. How could such a young kind beat a mighty knight like himself? The anger that the burly knight felt was growing more and more.

In anger the knight raised his sword upwards in an attempt to slash down at Link, but Link was fast. Quickly, Link thrust his wooden sword forward, poking the knight in the gut. The knight reeled back from the blow, stepping back attempting to gain some space, but Link moved forward once again. Dashing forward and closing the space between them, Link yelled out before raising his sword and slashing it at the knight, knowing the older knight down and out of the count.

Panting with a sigh, he walked up to the knight and looked down upon him, noticing the older knight who was his elder was out cold from the blow. Link let out another sigh before twirling his sword in his hand and placed it in his scabbard resting on his back. Perhaps he could use this time and get some sleep, but it seemed pretty unlikely at this time. He began to walk forward, heading off inside the barracks, however he stopped mid step and looked over his shoulder noticing a blond haired woman staring over at him.

His eyes widened upon noticing the woman that was starring upon him, a bit surprised to of seen her looking over at him. The very princess of Hyrule stood before him, somebody he had never really seen before today. He had never really met the princess, only hearing about her from others or seeing her from afar, yet even so he felt a sense of familiarity. No matter how much he thought of her as a princess, he couldn’t help but think about the blond haired girl he used to see roam around Castle Town ever since his youth. It was that very girl that helped motivate him despite never having spoken to her.

Despite the fact that silence fell over the two and they simply watched each other, Zelda couldn't bring herself to speak at first. When his gaze had fell over her, she just watched him for a moment before bringing one of her hands to her heart, as though she was reaching for the pendant of her necklace. Pursing her lips for a moment she let out a small breath and smiled lightly. "Hello."

She wasn't really sure what to say. She wasn't the best at making conversation with strangers, and from what she could tell, he seemed just as confused as she was. "I uh... I didn't mean to interrupt your training. I was just coming to train myself if there was anywhere to do so," she cleared her throat awkwardly. Maybe training wasn't such a good idea anymore. For some reason, this entire awkward meeting was baffling to her, as if she was missing something. Did she know him?

The wind picked up again and her eyelids closed halfway as she let it glide against her skin, relaxing her. Her hand dropped from her chest and back to her side as she took a deep breath again, half smiling at him. "Have we met before by chance? I feel like we may have crossed paths in the past."

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

Post by Link Wed Feb 18, 2015 6:33 pm

Staring forward as the princess stared back, Link didn’t know what to exactly say to her, to somebody of royalty. The initial look of surprise on his face had faded away and Link couldn’t help but smile a bit as she greeted him. He still felt a sense of awkwardness, but that feeling began to fade as he slowly began to adjust to her presence before him. Once she apologised for interrupting his session Link immediately shook his head. “No, you don’t need to apologise, I just finished…you didn’t interrupt anything” Link said walking a bit forward.

He couldn’t say what it was about her that he had this feeling of familiarity and it confused him. A princess such as herself couldn’t have possibly met him before and so Link shook his head again. “No, this should be our first meeting...I think…” Link said. He felt comfortable speaking to her, thinking back to the girl he would see roaming the town…the very girl that had stopped roaming around recently. It was as if he was finally speaking to that girl, but that couldn’t be. The girl he was speaking to now was the princess of Hyrule, the woman that would lead the land and the woman he was supposed to defend. Just thinking about that immediately made his eyes widen before he suddenly got on one knee, his arm across his chest and his head bowing down.

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

Post by Zelda Wed Feb 18, 2015 6:55 pm

Well, this was a bit embarrassing. Now she felt a bit stupid for thinking that the two could have met before. Frowning slightly, she sighed. "I feel like we've met some place before..." she murmured quietly, but before she could really say more, the boy had immediately bent down onto one knee with his arm over his chest. Her eyes widened a bit as she stepped back in surprise, and she laughed sheepishly.

"No, no, no, please don't do that. I'm not your superior right now, I'm just a girl. Just a normal girl right now, okay? You don't have to bow to me. You never have to bow to me," she spoke softly. "Honestly, I should be the one bowing to you. If it wasn't for you or the other guards, this city would be defenseless. You do far much more than I do," her voice trailed off for a moment as she frowned. The more she thought about it, the more it hit her. What was she doing? Barely anything. She was going to just send off guards... send off her hero, wherever he may be into this war while she waited in the castle.

Not this time. This time she wanted to help. But as soon as her thoughts concluded, she snapped back to reality and swallowed hard, "Oh goodness, forgive me. I didn't introduce myself. I'm Zelda. And you are?"

The idea that they could have possibly met before was something that was unshakable from the young knight’s mind, but he couldn’t do much but attempt to set such a thought aside. No matter how much he attempted to, he could not recall who this girl was in the slightest. If it was familiarity it was probably because he had heard of the princess before. He had never known this girl personally.

Upon her urging for him to not bow to her, Link slowly raised his head and glanced up at the woman as she spoke about how he was the one that should be the one to do the bowing and not him. Staring up at her he noticed a look upon her face, a look that looked like sadness. She was to be the queen of this land, her father was deceased. Though he could not understand her responsibilities, he could understand the pain of losing a father. “My name?...My name is Link” Link said softly before he eventually rose to his feet and stared at the princess.

“You are incorrect princess, you don’t need to bow to us knights”
Link said closing his eyes. “For us knights you are the one that command us, lead us to victory” Link said opening his eyes and gave her a smile “you are the one that motivates us knights and without you we are nothing” Link said.

The name rung in Zelda's head for a moment as she closed her eyes, trying to keep it sealed in her mind so she wouldn't forget. "Link... well that name certainly has some sort of... familiarity. Perhaps I have heard my advisers speak of you in the past," she nodded, mostly trying to make sense of the fact that couldn't figure out the source of her memory of him. As Link then spoke of her being the motivation to the nights, her cheeks flushed a bit as she blinked several times, looking at him.

"I've... I've barely done anything for this world," she sighed. "Not like my father, anyways," she looked down, shrugging. Quite honestly, she felt guilty for not being able to do much more. "But, I plan to be more involved this time around. If we go to war, we go to war together. I'm not going to sit idly and watch from within the walls of the kingdom."

It would have made sense if one of her advisers probably given the name before, after all he was a complete nobody and she would have definitely not known of him if it didn’t revolve around work. It was only logical to believe that they only heard of each other and that was why they were so familiar with each other, or at least this was what Link told himself in order to not strain himself trying to think back to a previous life.

The sadness that Link picked up had shown before the princess before him even more now. Without her father a heavy burden surely must have been placed on her shoulders and Link realized this may have been quite the challenge. When she spoke of her resolve to enter the battle Link placed his hand on his waist and nodded. “Right, and don’t forget me and the other knights will be there to protect both you and the people of Hyrule” Link said. “I won’t let anything happen to you, I know it’s tough now that your father is gone, but you still have the people of Hyrule to support you. You’re not alone” Link said with a reassuring smile.

It was a bit of relief that Link had been so dedicated to the cause. They needed more knights like that. Many of them, after her announcement of the vision she had ended up dropping out of the cause because they were afraid. Since many did not believe in the story of the hero returning... many had just given up and tried to hide from the truth. Zelda hadn't given up hope though. She would find him.

"Hopefully soon, the hero will be united with us and we can bring back balance," she nodded. "I have faith that he will reveal himself to us soon. I've had dreams of him, though I've never seen his face. Clothed in green, just like the legends," she smiled lightly. "Do you believe that he will return someday?" she asked him softly. She wouldn't have really blamed him if he didn't believe it. Not many did.

In the end though, she was determined to find peace for the world. She was just lucky that there were some who believe her, like Impa. She had read in the past that sometimes the princess was often looked over because she was too young. That was when the hero had swept in and helped save the land from despair. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that again.

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

The very legendary hero, clad in green wielding the very sword of evil’s bane, Link was quite familiar with the legends that were told about this great hero. Back when he was a child his father used to tell tales of the legendary hero, tales that were mostly long forgotten or not believed in anymore. It made the young child believe and dream of becoming a hero very much like the heroes that vanquished the evil that threatened the land.

“You truly believe that the hero will arrive?” Link said closing his eyes giving it some thought before nodding “The tales of the hero have always motivated me…if evil threatens the land then I am sure that the hero will come” Link said opening his eyes as he placed his arm across his chest his clenched fist over his heart “but even so I shall not rely on the hero. If I must, even until my last breath I will fight in his place until he arrives and brings peace to the land. If you truly believe that the hero will arrive then I too shall believe as well” Link said.

When Link had asked her if she had truly believed the hero would come, her smile faltered a bit and she looked down, nodding. "I do. It can't just be a legend," she murmured. Link then spoke of how the story had motivated him, and how he wouldn't wait around for him to show up to which Zelda chuckled lightly. He seemed so determined, ready for anything.

That was definitely an unbreakable spirit. And for just a moment, Zelda thought to herself, what if? What if it was him?... but she was probably just getting ahead of herself. Maybe there were more in the world who wanted to help after all - there'd be more heroes to come, even of they weren't the hero. She smiled lightly again and took a few steps forward, walking past him and looking around quietly. "Well I hope you're ready... I've been having dreams of a terrible evil coming..." she sighed. "I'm not sure when, but it will surely be at our feet before we know it." It was a feeling she could not shake. The look in Ganondorf's eyes, the fire that burned over Hyrule, and the many lives that were lost. "I can't watch this city burn. I have to do something to stop it."

The legend of the hero, it meant more to her than it did to him and she truly awaited the return of him. It must have been hard for her considering such a tale was starting to turn towards the realm of fairy tales. He would stand by her side and he was sure the people of Hyrule were ready to do the same as well. Together they would break the darkness that threatened the world and peace would return to Hyrule, he was sure of it. He was glad to offer his life, just like his father long ago.

Though Zelda walked past him and stopped to look around, Link glanced up at the sky and listened to her speak. “I’m prepared for that…ever since I was a child I always had dreams of fighting off this powerful monster…behind me would always be a shining light that would fill me with warmth…Its one of the three things that pushed me forward to become a knight” Link said thinking back to the numerous dreams he had. He would always be beaten down, but he would never give up in those dreams, he would never let the darkness have its way, let alone so much as touch the very light before him.

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

Post by Zelda Thu Feb 19, 2015 10:51 pm

"You've had dreams of it, too?" her face suddenly changed, a bit more puzzled than anything. She thought she was crazy for having such repetitive and nightmarish dreams, but she wasn't alone. "That's almost how mine were, except well... I wasn't fighting. I was only aiding the hero, and often times, it would seem as though we were losing," she sighed. "But just before I'd wake up, he'd appear, showered in light and only seconds from delivering a final blow," she trailed off.

It was only a dream though, wasn't it? Through years of study, she had heard the story of the Legendary Cycle. The hero, the goddess, the untimely evil. Even though every female in the Royal Family is named Zelda, that did not mean that each Zelda was a reincarnation of the Goddess. So much time has passed, many thought that the cycle had been broken and evil had been bound forever. Could that have been the case? Surely though now that the dreams are back... could the cycle continue? Impa surely seemed as alarmed as Zelda was when she had admitted to such dreams. If only her father had listened...

"I sense great things will come from you, Link... on your namesake. Link is a very heroic name and known in the legends," she smiled. "Even if you may not be the hero... you will definitely show just as much courage and are bound to be just as valuable. You'll still be a hero, in my eyes."

Post by Link Thu Feb 19, 2015 11:06 pm

Link glanced back down over at Zelda as she spoke and listened to her speak about having the same dreams as him, albeit different. They were quite similar and he was surprised to hear this, the two of them surely held a lot of similarities. Perhaps, perhaps maybe, the very light that he always attempted to protect so desperately in his dreams was the very girl that stood before him. Was his dream to protect the princess? To vanquish the darkness and bring light to the land of Hyrule? No, that was impossible, that was the duty of the hero himself.

“Me? a hero? No I’m just a person trying to fulfil his duty”
Link said scratching the back of his head. “I’m nothing in comparison to my father…he was one of the greatest knights that Hyrule ever had” Link said looking down with a soft smile “He…was the second reason I chose to become a knight…the third reason…er…nevermind…” Links said. Thinking back to the third reason he began to think of how embarrassing it may have been to talk about it and attempted to not say.

He seemed so modest. That was a good thing wasn't it? For the most part, she was used to knights feeling cocky about their abilities and what they could do. Not Link though. He was incredibly humble with his duty and that was somewhat of a soothing relief for Zelda, though she wasn't incredibly sure as to why.

"Your father sounds like he was a great man," she smiled. "I'm sure he's very proud of you," she spoke softly. Whether his father was alive or not, she didn't know, but she could feel in her heart that either way, he was very proud of his son. When Link then began talking of his third reason of joining and then quickly backed out, Zelda's eyes lit up with curiosity as her head tilted a bit. "What is it? I'm sure whatever it is, it's uplifting. I'd love to hear about it!"

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

Post by Link Thu Feb 19, 2015 11:32 pm

Link couldn’t help but smile at Zelda’s words. Though at first it was pretty awkward talking to the princess of Hyrule so casually, as time went on it seemed to of faded away. Her words were pretty comforting and thinking about it he really did hope that his father was proud, both him and the mother that he had never met. Maybe he would die like his father, on the field of battle, but that seemed alright in his mind. If he could be as great of a man as his father then he would be at peace.

He smiled and then was a bit caught off guard the moment Zelda asked him about his third reason. Looking away he scratched the side of his check “well its kind of embarrassing, but...” Link began to say before sighing and looking up at Zelda “13 years ago my father…passed away on the field of battle. My mother died when I was an infant so that left me an orphan…” Link said closing his eyes “My dad was all I had…my role model…without him I was alone, my dreams of being a knight like my dad were forgotten. I’d usually just walk around Castle Town aimlessly” Link said before opening his eyes, starring downwards with a soft smile. “But each time I would roam around I would notice a girl around my age roaming around as well. Blond hair and blue eyes…she’d roam around carefree and speak with the other villagers happily…watching her…made me realize I really wasn’t alone…that there were many people around who were willing to help…and so because of that girl…I realized that I could protect those people by becoming a knight” Link said.

The more he spoke of the girl, Zelda's eyes narrowed slightly, blinking a few times as she thought about it. Well... that couldn't have been her, could it? She did sneak off a lot and help everyone.... but it could have been anyone, couldn't it? It seemed strange to her though. There weren't many people she saw, at least of that description who were helping others... other than herself, of course.

"Huh... that girl..." she murmured for a moment and then looked back up at him. "So wait, how old are you then? You don't look a day over twenty," she chuckled lightly. "I used to sneak out a lot... Back when my father was incredibly overprotective of me, when I first started having the dreams. I'd sneak out and dress up as a peasant and help people who needed it... but I mean, it couldn't possibly have been me..." though she did fit the age and description.

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

Post by Link Fri Feb 20, 2015 12:06 am

Link crossed his arms and looked at her raising an eyebrow wondering what the princess was thinking of. He had to admit he felt a bit embarrassed about speaking about it, but he wasn’t expecting a reaction like this. Looking at her question how old he was it seemed she was able to correctly gauge his age, but for what purpose did that really hold? “I…only just turned 20 recently” Link said as he continued to look at her.

What she said next sort of caught him off guard slightly. The princess had actually admitted that she used to roam around before, something that changed Link’s mind. The only reason he did not believe the girl was the princess standing before him was because she was a princess. “You…remind me a lot of her actually. Even before we began to speak I felt as if I was talking to her, but immediately wrote it off because you were the princess” Link said looking away a bit embarrassed that he had just spoken about admiring a girl who was right before him.

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

So he was only twenty. For someone of that age to be doing what he was, Zelda was very impressed. He had a lot of potential for this world to see, and that was very relieving to see. She chuckled a bit when he then spoke of her reminding him of the girl he had seen and smiled. "Well, it's very nice to meet you then!" she held out her hand, intending for him to shake it gently. "I mean, I'm not just a princess, you know..."

She took a look into his eyes for a moment, just analyzing them. Something was so surreal about this situation. Sure, she had talked to others and felt as though she clicked to them before, but not like this. This was so much different. She knew this person and didn't even understand how or why. There was just something in the back of her mind screaming as though she was supposed to remember him from somewhere. Maybe if she could just touch his hand, she'd be able to know. It was one of her innate abilities after all.

OOC: I feel like maybe them touching hands will spark some sort of weird jolt of "HEY THIS PERSON IS GOING TO BE SUPER IMPORTANT TO YOU" xD not exactly revealing who they are to each other, but it's just one of those wake up call feelings

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

Pushing away his embarrassment aside, he glance back at the princess and looked back into her eyes with a soft smile. Being with her felt familiar, more familiar than when he just thought back to the young peasant girl of his youth. She still held the very sense of royalty, from both appearance and personality, but he also felt like he felt a person who could relate to even the common people stood before him as well. It only just made him want to protect her even further, to make sure she would be able to meet the hero of legend and watch the world enjoy peace.

Link looked down as she placed her hand out for him to shake. Normally he would have gotten on one knee and held her hand with his head bowed down, but the princess made it clear that he shouldn’t treat her as such. Raising his hand he gently took hold of her hand with a smile, but immediately his eyes widened a bit as he noticed a strange feeling.

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

With the immediate touch of his hand, Zelda let a small breath escape in surprise, though it was just small enough for only her to hear. She kept her hand gripped to his gently, just staring at them for a long moment as she tried to find the words to say. The feeling she felt was... unexplained. As though energy was flowing between the two of them, electrifying her soul as if some sort of wake up call.

Something was very off about this. She wasn't one for making assumptions, but this wasn't the first time she had ever held someone's hand. It wasn't that simple. And she didn't want to let go either - it was as though the sensation was trying to tell her something. Looking back up at him, a serious gaze painted over her face, she pursed her lips for a moment, clearing her throat. "You're not normal," was all she could even think to say. "Something about you is different from the rest. I can feel it," she said. "I don't mean that in a bad way, I just... I'm reading something very powerful, I've never felt it before."

He would be destined for great things, she was sure of it.

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

Just taking grasp of her hand surprised him as he felt a strange feeling from the princess. Link was not really that of a magician. Though he did utilize the workings of magic if needed to he usually focused on using his weapons to defeat any challenge that appeared before him. He wasn’t as adept at magic like the princess, but he could still feel it. It was a bond that the two of them shared that Link just could not remember. It was a bond that was forged through many previous lifetimes.
He stared down at the hand just thinking about all this, not really knowing what to think about it. Once he heard Zelda speak once more he looked up at the girl and listened to her speak. She spoke about how he wasn’t normal, but he just couldn’t see it. What was different about him than the others that he fought? Surely he wasn’t the strongest of the knights. “I…find that hard to believe…I mean…I’ve lived a simple life and I’ve never really been something great or special really…” Link said. He was quite quick to follow the princess’ s words, but when it came down to it being about himself he was beginning to see some doubt.

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

Chuckling lightly at his doubt as she then moved her hand away from his, she looked down rather bashfully. "Well, it would seem that there is much more for you in this life than you expect, then," she worded softly. Looking back up at him for a moment, she felt a bit more comfortable now. It was just relieving to her that there were more heroes in this world than she thought.

As she had then moved her mouth open to speak once more, she heard the bells ring throughout the city, realizing what time it was. Pursing her lips for a moment and sighing, she shrugged her shoulders and took a step back. "I guess that's my cue to leave. I have some meetings to attend," she spoke in a rather disappointed tone. "I do hope to see you again though," she nodded. "Truly, it was a pleasure meeting you."

She had completely forgotten that she had plans of practice with Impa. If she were to show up late again, she'd surely be scolded once more. Still backing up and watching the young soldier for a moment, she then whipped around, returning to the gates so that she could head back within the castle.

Morning of the Unknowing Reunion Empty Re: Morning of the Unknowing Reunion

The very moment the two of them released their grip on each other’s hand Link pulled his hand back as well and scratched the back of his head with a bashful smile. He truly had never thought he would have been able to talk to royalty, especially like this. She had a lot of hope placed in him, and it was only something he hoped he could live upon. He hoped the very hero she placed her belief in would show himself, to bring light to the world and lighten the load the princess must have been holding.

With the death of the king and the looming threat arriving it was obvious that she would be going through a very difficult time. If it helped her in any way, he was ready to do whatever he could to lighten the load she had to endure. The sudden ring of the town’s bell almost snapped him out of his thought and the princess informed him of the pleasure of meeting each other.

Link could only place his arm across his chest and lower his head with a smile. “It was a pleasure to meet you too princess” Link said. Though she told him to not see her as just a princess, he couldn’t help but do so. The princess was the one he wanted to protect and this girl before him was the very one he wanted to protect. With that the two were off their separate ways and Link stood beside his unconscious senior, sighing with a sigh as he lift the burly man and head back to the barracks.
